Madurai Ring Road blocked after mishap

Madurai: Traffic on the Madurai ring road at Chinna Udaippu was hit for close to two hours as a mob blocked the road after an accident on Sunday. A 25-year-old man from Chinna Udaippu was killed in the accident involving his two-wheeler and a government bus around noon. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded as the villagers blocked the road with tree branches.
Ring road connects Madurai city with Tirunelveli and Tuticorin roads and important places like the airport.
After the police assured the villagers that steps would be taken to prevent accidents in the section, people withdrew the protest. Police said the bus ran over the two-wheeler when the biker attempted to overtake the bus.
