Two young boys drowned in the Yamuna near Timarpur in Wazirabad after their boat capsized on Sunday afternoon.

The duo has been identified as Aman (20) and Prince (17). It took rescue teams more than five hours to find Prince’s body, while the search for Aman continued till late on Sunday evening. The duo was among the four who had decided to go rowing in the river when they met with an accident.

While two of the boys managed to swim to safety, Aman and Prince drowned. The two youths immediately informed the police, after which the Station House Officers of Timarpur and Burari police stations reached the spot with seven PCR teams, two fire tenders, and three ambulances.

“Locals who had reached the spot were keen to dive and save the children, but they were not allowed to do so,” claimed Ravinder.

The NDRF, meanwhile, sent a team comprising expert divers.
