Devotion with purity in heart with a twinkle of brightness in thought, word and action is the only means to realise the Almighty, said Prema Nandakumar, noted writer and scholar.

Introducing a book ‘Krishna Nadam’ authored by Ramakrishna Easwaran here on Sunday, Ms. Prema Nandakumar said that the book dealt with different gods and goddesses bringing out the essence of devotion. The book, in poetry form, written in English and Tamil, brought out in detail various specialities ranging from the walking pattern of Lord Rama (Maadathu Mangai kaana kadal nadai), about the speciality of Sri Rockfort Uchchi Pillaiyar, Sri Tiruvikrama Perumal of Tirukovilur, Sri Pundaraikaksha Perumal of Tiruvellarai.

Referring to a song glorifying Sri Pundarikaksha Perumal, Ms. Prema Nandakumar said that its meter was so impressive and astonishing that she was reminded of the difficulty she had undergone in practising a song during her childhood days in Kallikdakurichi.

Ms. Prema Nandakumar appreciated the effort taken by Dr. Ramakrishna Easwaran to acknowledge that the Supreme Being is the universal physician (Marundhu Avanae, maruthuvar verillai), indicating his humility before the Almighty, despite being a noted specialist.

Noted clarinet maestro A.K.C. Natarajan, who released the book, appealed to the musicians to popularise the songs composed by Dr. Ramakrishna Easwaran, through an integrated approach.

In this context, he underlined the support given by musicians across the globe in popularising the songs composed by Sadguru Sri Thiyagaraja.

The first copy of the book was received by P.S. Mahadevan and Swarna Mahadevan. The book contained about 50 poems, each with specific ‘ragam’, avoiding repletion of the same ‘ragam’.

Musical concerts by Koviladi R. Madhwaprasad and Karthik Narayanan were held.

They were accompanied by T.V. Ramanujacharlu on the violin, Tiruchi S. Rengarajan on the mridangam and Tiruchi Krishna on ghatam.
