KATRA, June 5: Two-day long 11th Reasi District Open Fencing Championship for Boys and Girls organized by the Reasi District Fencing Association commenced today at Amba Kids Home, Panthal, in which about 100 fencers from different clubs and schools participated.
Vikram Singh was the chief guest during opening function who advised the students to focus not only in academics but also in games and sports. He also said that he will provide every possible support to develop this game in the district.
The opening function began with the colorful cultural item performed by the students of Amba Kids Home followed by three demonstration bouts. In the first bout, Mayank Kapoor defeated Vikas Kumar by 10-9 in a close contest while in the second bout, Amit Chib got better off Ajay Singh and clinched the bout by 15-12. In the last demonstration bout, Aryan Chandel defeated Rahul Prashar by 10-7.
Other prominent persons present during the occasion were Principal, Amba Kids Home, Ashwani Katoch, Ajay Vashist (lecturer), Abdul Rashid, Vaneet Panjogtra, Rajay Kumar and Chahat Singh.
The matches were officiated by Hardeep Bhagat, Anoop Jyoti, Rohit, Rajan Prashar, etc.

Under -14 boys Epee: Nariender of Amba Kids Home won the Gold Medal by defeating Devinder of Panthal Fencing club while Amit of Zorawar Fencing Club and Wasim of Amba Kids Home Panthal were the Bronze Medalists.
Under 17 Sabre Girls: Simran Thakur of Zorawar Fencing Club bagged Gold by defeating Shivasni Sharma of Panthal Fencing Club. Roshani Devi and Ayushi Rajput won the Joint Bronze.
Under 14 Epee Girls: Shahida of Mahore Fencing Club won the Gold by defeating Priyanka of Katra Fencing Club. Meenakshi of Zorawar fencing Club and Saima of Amba Kids won the Joint Bronze.
