ISLAMABAD: A sum of Rs 27.56 billion has been allocated for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in Public Sector Development Programme the for fiscal year 2016-17. According to the budgetary document issued here on Friday, an amount of Rs 750 million was allocated for provision of equipment for four PAEC cancer hospitals at Bahawalpur, Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.The government has also allocated funds for 17 ongoing schemes of the commission with the highest funding of Rs 22.32 billion for Chasma Nuclear Power project. The other main project include Rs 796.429 million for upgradation of MINAR, Rs 655 million for upgradation of PINSTECH Labs, Rs 430.32 million for extension of INCR, Abbottabad, Rs 424 million for Chemical Processing Plant at Mianwali and Rs 408.81 million for the upgradation of Centre for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy, Quetta.Moreover, the government has allocated a sum of Rs 271 million for Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA).According to the budgetary document released on Friday, an amount of Rs 231 million has been allocated for the ongoing schemes while Rs 40 million for new schemes.
