Conduct RS elections as scheduled, Congress urges EC
Bengaluru/Dharwad: KPCC president G Parameshwara on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission (EC) urging to conduct the Rajya Sabha polls as per schedule on June 11.
Karnataka Chief Elector Officer (CEO) Anil Kumar Jha said the Congress has sought for the election process to continue as per schedule stating that neither the party nor its candidates were involved in wrongful practices.
"We have received the petition and forwarded it to the CEC," said Jha.
On the sting operations which showed MLAs negotiating a money deal in exchange of votes, Jha said the commission has received an unedited footage from one television channel and is awaiting another channel's clippings to study the same.
Earlier, Parameshwara told the media that the party is certain that there's no wrongful practice indulged into by the party or its candidate KC Ramamurthy.
"We have not indulged in any sort of wrongful election practice or entered into horse trading, as portrayed by the sting operations by TV channels," he claimed.
