Police personnel escorting the official vehicle of Minister for Municipal Administration and Minority Affairs Qamarul Islam had a narrow escape when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge while trying to avoid an oncoming tractor near Kodangal in Mehboobnagar district in Telangana on Friday night.
According to the reports reaching the district headquarters, assistant sub-inspector Thippanna, constable Shrimanth and driver Ravichandra were travelling by a police jeep escorting the Minister’s vehicle from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad. While Mr. Shrimanth received minor injuries, the others escaped unhurt.
The reports said that it was raining heavily when the accident occurred and the police jeep skidded of the road and fell into a deep gorge. Fortunately, the vehicle did not overturn or dashed against any solid objects.
Mr. Islam and his aides shifted the injured police constable to his vehicle and helped retrieve the jeep from the gorge and continued their journey to Kalaburagi. The Minister admitted the injured police constable to the government hospital where he was discharged after being provided first aid treatment.
