The Ahmednagar police on Saturday arrested a man, who they claim was sending threatening letters to activist Anna Hazare.
Dynaesh Pansare, a hotelier from Nevasa, has been identified as the man who has been sending threat letters to Hazare since last year.
The office of Hazare has been receiving threat letters warning him of dire consequences for his activities. Hazare’s security was increased following such letters and the police had started investigating the possible origin of such letters. Some of the letters had the signature of Ambadas Laskhare, a resident of Nevasa.

Sourabh Tripati, superintendent of police from Ahmednagar, said that based on the handwriting and the postal marks on the envelopes, they had managed to trace the origin of letters to Pansare. During interrogation, Pansare allegedly confessed to sending the letters.
Apparently, Lashkare used to trouble Pansare, which prompted him to take revenge in this roundabout manner. “Anna Hazare has Z category security and any threats to him is taken seriously. Pansare thought if he included the name of Lashkare in threat letters, the police were bound to take notice of him,” said Tripati.
Meanwhile, complimenting the police on their detection, Hazare said the police should show equal zeal in trying to find out the killers of Dr Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare. “Now that the case of the threat letters has been solved, the government should reduce my security cover,”he said.
