Krishnanagar: A 70-year-old man was run over and killed in Nadia's Hogolberia on Saturday morning just days after he pulled up the driver for harassing his granddaughter.
This incident comes barely two days after a teacher was assaulted in the New Jalpaiguri-bound Teesta Torsa Express for standing up to a gang of harassers.
Though some policemen tried to let it go the police tried topass it off as an accident, officers said they would look into all the aspects before deciding the charges against the accused.

The incident occurred at Tarapur in the Hogolberia police station area when Topser Mondal, 70, was sitting at a road crossing. A Maruti Omni sped towards him and ran him over. He was rushed The driver of the vehicle, Tinku Mondal was arrested.
Initially police thought it was an accident but started investigating the case differently after they came to know about a tiff between Topser and Tinku. , over the last few days. Tinku lives across the lane from Topser's house.

The elderly man had been complainingfor long that Tinku was bothering his 17-year-old granddaughter. On Friday afternoon, Tinku the accused had allegedly teased the girl again and there was an altercation between the two families.
Locals had to intervene to and bring the situation under control.
"Few days back, there was another altercation between Topser and Tinku. The youth was drinking liquor on agricultural land of the victim. The 70-year-old septuagenarian objected and they had an argument. We have informed about this to police. told all this towith the accused. had taken place. We have told all this to the police. We believeTopser's death was not an accident," a local said.
"We shall look at all aspects of the case. The vehicle has been seized and will be examined," an officer said.
