IAF's No 20 squadron celebrates diamond jubilee in Pune
PUNE: The No.20 squadron of the Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its diamond jubilee at the Air Force Station, Lohegaon in the city on Friday.
Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of South Western Air Command Air Marshal R K Dhir was among the prominent dignitaries, along with serving and retired officers and personnel of the squadron, who attended the celebrations.
On the occasion, AOC-in-C of Western Air Command Air Marshal S B Deo, who is himself a 20 squadron veteran, flew a Sukhoi-30 MKI sortie with his son Squadron Leader Karan Deo, who is presently posted to the same squadron.
Air Marshal Deo was posted to 20 Sqn in 1988-89.
His son Sqn Ldr Karan is posted to the same squadron and it was a matter of great pride indeed for the two generations of pilots to have flown a Su-30 sortie together to mark the jubilee celebrations.
Another father-son duo, Air Vice Marshal V R Choudhari, a former 20 Sqn pilot and his son Flt Lt Mihir Choudhari, who is presently posted to the squadron, were also present for the occasion.
Commanding Officer Wg Cdr Aman Midha and all other squadron personnel were involved in organizing and hosting a series of events and honoured the veterans of 20 squadron.
