The National Commission for Narcotics Control (NCNC) has warned of serious threat posed by drug mafias and gangs to the Kingdom.

“Drug mafia poses a serious threat to Saudi youth. They aim to destroy the minds of both young boys and girls in the prime of life,” said Abdul Ilah bin Mohammed Al-Sharif, NCNC secretary-general.

He was addressing a symposium at the King Saud University (KSU), in cooperation with the General Directorate for Drug Control.
The symposium came as part of the preventive programs carried out by the National Drug Prevention Program (Nebras).
Al-Sharif said that the NCNC has implemented measures to fight drugs with the support of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, who is also NCNC chairman.

He said NCNC has “forged partnerships with the public and private sectors to eliminate these toxins, and reviewed the most important programs on combating drugs.”

Dr. Fahad Al-Zamil, dean of the Faculty of Medicine at KSU, said: “Drugs are not only being traded but are also the cause of fierce competition among those illegally dealing in it. It is therefore necessary to employ all means to stop it, and this seminar is a move in the right direction.”

He pointed out that “the enemies of the homeland always target it through where it’s vulnerable, which are the young boys and girls whose lives are ahead of them.”
