Vadodara: Budding young cricketers from the city will soon have quality cricketing facilities and professional coaches in their vicinity.
The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has decided to start two additional school academies in Harni and Bhayli areas.
These academies will nurture and train school children for free and the best among them will make it to the professional cricket matches.
The association already has two academies running at Polo Ground and Alembic to coach under-12 and under-14 boys.
"The idea is to catch them young. We have lot of talent and these academies will help us groom them at the right age," said Narayan Satham, who is heading the academies.
The academies at Polo Ground and Alembic are coaching 50 youngsters each and the new schools will admit 100 more aspiring cricketers.
"The young boys are trained in yoga, swimming and also get fitness training under the guidance of physios and trainers. The boys play matches among themselves and also with other clubs. We have been able to produce some good cricketers from these academies," said Snehal Parikh, BCA secretary (in-charge), .
The association writes to schools and clubs to invite students for their academy. The best of them are picked up from open nets.
