Ayurvedic medicies worth Rs 4 crore gutted in fire
BHOPAL: Ayurvedic medicines containing aphrodisiacs and swarna bhasma worth about Rs 4 crore were gutted in a major fire that took place at Deendayal industries in Gwalior on Friday.
Short circuit from a transformer of a power discom installed just outside of the industrial unit is believed to be the cause behind the fire.
Manish Mishra, DGM, marketing told TOI, "sparks emanating from the transformer close to the boundary wall of the unit flew inside the building.
By the time the guard informed the fire brigade, the fire had spread.'
The incident took place around 7 am.
There was a large stock of 3X3 capsules in the factory. Besides, there were medicines with major component of costly swarna bhasma, shilajit and ashwagandha among others were also gutted.
Deendayal aushadhi unit is located at Birla nagar industrial estate in Gwalior.
