Mumbai police detains Gujarat's most wanted criminal after five years' run

The Amboli police team on Friday detained a 28-year-old accused five-years after he fled away from Ahmedabad after killing Balwant Kahar at LG Hospital in Maninagar in April 2011. Accused Rajesh Rawal alias Raju Marwadi has been hiding in Mumbai and doing odd jobs after committing two murders in Gujarat.

MUMBAI: The Amboli police team on Friday detained a 28-year-old accused five years after he fled away from Ahmedabad after killing Balwant Kahar at LG Hospital in Maninagar in April 2011. Accused Rajesh Rawal alias Raju Marwadi has been hiding in Mumbai and doing odd jobs after committing two murders in Gujarat.
The city police has alerted their counterpart in Gujarat who will arrive to take custody of Rawal.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Satyanarayan Choudhary after receiving a tip-off formed a team—assistant commissioner of police Arun Chavan, Amboli police senior inspector Ramesh Khadtare, assistant inspector Daya Nayak—nabbed Rawal from Andheri (West).
Investigators said Rawal confessed that two of his accomplices was caught in the 2011 LG Hospital murder case. He managed to escape to Mumbai and has been hiding in Mumbai since then. “He is wanted in two murders and a weapon case (Arms Act Ahmedabad) and many serious offences against him at different parts in Gujarat,” said the investigators.
