Nonda, a Palo Alto-based smart hardware company, is set to change the charging cable industry by incorporating using one of the most durable material in the world used by military and spacecraft engineers, Kevlar.

Kevlar has been known to be used to make high quality bulletproof vests. This durable material also made the descent of Curiosity to Mars possible, withstanding 65,000 pounds of force. And by incorporating Kevlar to a charging cable, it can withstand any normal wear and tear situations and even bizarre pet-related destruction.

Nonda's new cable, dubbed as ZUS Kevlar Charging Cable, is reinforced with Kevlar for superior strength, making it more durable compared to any existing charger cable.

"Tired of splintering cables that only last for a few months? That's why we created the ZUS cable with DuPont Kevlar fabric (5X stronger than steel and used in ballistic body armor) to provide added protection against cord splintering and daily wear," Nonda wrote on their website.

The inner wiring of the ZUS Kevlar Charging Cable is surrounded with DuPont Kevlar and padded with EMI Grounding and PVC, with Nylon Braiding finishing. While the Kevlar makes the cable more durable, the tough nylon braiding keeps the charger tangle-free. The cable also comes with a unique 90 degree plug, making it perfect at fitting in narrow spaces. The cable is 4 feet long.

The cable is also designed to support safe and fast charging, unlike cheap, generic cables that are often more likely to burn out and potentially damage your devices.

Nonda launched the crowdfunding campaign for the ZUS Kevlar Charging Cable last May 3 on Indiegogo. The project is currently backed by 5,515 people raising nearly $300,000, 2,529 percent of the initial goal of $10,000.

The cables come in three options: the Micro USB for Android Devices; Lighting for Apple users and USB-A to USB-C for Macbook, Chrome Book, Nexus and other USB-C devices.

Nonda is offering a lifetime warranty for their product, which means they will replace any ZUS Kevlar Charging Cable damaged through normal wear and tear for free.
