4.5 acre butterfly garden open now at Sanjeevaiah Park

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) inaugurated a Butterfly Garden in Sanjeevaiah Park near Hussainsagar on Thursday.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) inaugurated a Butterfly Garden in Sanjeevaiah Park near Hussainsagar on Thursday.
The garden was developed as Hussainsagar and its surroundings are home to about 50 species of butterflies. The colourful range of shrubs, creepers and trees with flowers attract a large number of butterflies.
The garden was inaugurated by ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, K Laxma Reddy, A Indrakaran Reddy and T Padma Rao on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day.
A brochure on the attractions in Sanjeevaiah Park was also released by the ministers. HMDA metropolitan commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said the butterfly garden was designed to create an environment that attracts butterflies and moths as well.
The garden was developed in 4.5 acres and plants that attract butterflies have already been planted in the area, the commissioner said.
GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan, deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin and HMDA director (urban forestry) Swargam Srinivas were present.
