PUNE: The Vadgaon Maval police have booked a senior lawyer for allegedly molesting his assistant from December 2015.
The lawyer fled after the assistant lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday. The 26-year-old assistant, practising in different courts in Pune and at Vadgaon Maval, said in her complaint the senior lawyer, a resident of Akurdi, had been following her since December 2015.
He used to pass lewd comments at her.
According to police, the woman, also a resident of Vadgaon Maval, was working with the senior lawyer as an assistant for a few years and recently started her own practice. But the lawyer continued to follow her in public places, especially in the Vadgaon Maval taluka court. He allegedly made several advances towards her.
Sub-inspector Aditya Lonikar, the investigating officer of the case, said a the senior advocate used to make calls to her late in the night and used lewd words. A couple of months ago, his wife also made threat calls to the complainant. Lonikar said that the lawyer fled after police registered the offence against him.
