Rajendra discusses security arrangements for Amarnath Ji Yatra

Srinagar, June 2: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has stressed on effective mechanism and planning for smooth and peaceful conduct of Amarnath Yatra.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing a high level meeting of police, Army and central para-military officers held at Police Control Room here today. The meeting was also attended through video conferencing by the concerned range DIGs and district SSPs of Jammu province.
The meeting was convened to discuss the security arrangements and deployment of personnel for ensuring Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in a befitting manner. He stressed upon the officers to maintain close coordination with their ranks and other security agencies to achieve better results.
Mr. Rajendra, deliberating on different issues, emphasised for special focus on sensitive locations and base camps while putting in place the security arrangements. He said that night domination and Nakas by the joint forces with a close vigil on the suspicious elements should be ensured in these areas including the national highway and border areas to foil any attempt by the anti-national elements.
He said that input sharing among the agencies would help to take preventive measures and strengthen the security grid. Only the registered pilgrims should be allowed to proceed on yatra in order to avoid any attempt by the unscrupulous persons, he added.
Giving the credit to the people of the State and all security agencies for the peaceful conduct of previous yatras, DGP said that it is because of well planned coordination among the security agencies and the people’s cooperation that large number of pilgrims had visited the Holy Cave during previous years which concluded peacefully.
He emphasised to interact with the people and seek their cooperation in making the yatra peaceful.
During the meeting ADGP (Security), Zonal, IGPs Telecom, IGP Traffic, through detailed power point presentations apprised the meeting  about their arrangements with regard to security and deployment plan for the yatra. Communication network, traffic plan and police bandobast from the Lakhanpur up to Holy Cave was also discussed in the meeting.
In their presentations, the officers apprised the meeting about arrangements made in their respective domains. It was disclosed that sufficient manpower from Army, central para-military forces and police including Mahila Police and teams from NDRF and SDRF are being deployed for the yatra.
While discussing the traffic arrangements during the yatra in capital cities and the twin routes leading to the Holy Cave, Mr. Rajendra stressed upon the officers that while making arrangements it should be ensured that local commuters are not put to any inconvenience.
Among others, the meeting was attended ADGPs, VK Singh, SM Sahai, Dilbag Singh, L Mohanti, GOC (V), Maj Gen, Ashok Narula,  IGPs, HK Lohia, SJM Gillani, MS Salaria, Sunil Kumar, Danish Rana, MA Ganai, Jagjit Kumar, Viplav Kumar, IG CRPF Adm, Atul Karwal, IG CRPF Ops, Nalin Prabhat, IG BSF, Vikas Chandra, JD IB, Harmeet Singh, Addl. Commissioner SB, Rajmurugan, DIGs, Nitish Kumar, AIGs, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Tahir Sajad  and Kulbir Singh, SSPs/SPs, Amit Kumar, Abdul Jabbar, Imtiyaz Ismail Parray, Irshad Ahmad, Mumtaz Ahmed, Abdul Wahid Shah, Sr.ADO, BA Shah and other police officers.
