gunned down 30-year-old SharadKursami
after labelling
him a police informer at Hukkametta village in Laheritaluka
. Body of Kursami
, abducted three days ago, was found on the Bhamragarh-Laheri
road. The victim had been abducted from Mardmelinga
village before he was eliminated.
Police claimed that Kursami
had no role in their information network. He was a farmer, claimed police. The cops feel that Naxals
have started targeting local tribals
after a successful pro-development meeting at Nelgunda
. In another incident, police recovered explosives from five places on Jambia-Hedri Road in Etapalli taluka on Wednesday. The explosives were apparently planted to target search and patrolling parties of police posts and operation squads. A claymore mine, two bundles of wires and battery cells were among the materials seized.
On May 31, police had defused two
Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), one of eight kg and the other of two kg, after recovering them from Bhamragarh-Tadgaon road, when the Naxals had called for bandh.
