New KVs not opening for want of land: Kushwaha

Aurangabad: Union minister of state for human resource development (HRD) Upendra Kushwaha on Thursday said no one was safe in Bihar as the Nitish Kumar-led Grand Alliance government had miserably failed to maintain law and order in the state.
"Murder, kidnapping, extortion, burglary and loot are the order of the day... Police have just not been able to check the crime," he said.
Talking to mediapersons, the minister alleged criminals were having a field day because they enjoyed the patronage of ruling politicians. "All the promises made by Nitish regarding the law and order have proved hollow," he said.
Asked about the opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas in Bihar, the Union HRD minister said new schools were not being opened in the state due to non-availability of land. "Many proposals are pending, but the state government is not providing land," he said.
He, however, did not specify the number of such proposals pending at the level of the state government.
Kushwaha regretted the Bihar government's "lack of interest" in the development of the state. "How can the Centre accelerate the pace of development in Bihar if the state government is not willing to extend cooperation?" he asked.
