2 Nepali cousins stoned to death in Titwala; 5 held

Five youths, including a minor boy, allegedly killed two Nepali cousins and chopped off one of their private parts on Thursday at 2.30am. The police arresting the five and recovered the body part, which was being taken in a stolen motorcycle’s luggage compartment.

Raju Sonar, 25, used to stay in Maharal village, near Titwala, where he used to work as a building security guard, while Madan Sonar, 30, worked as an electrician and stayed in Ulhasnagar.
The arrested were identified as Anil Patenia,19, Hardeepsingh Gill, 18, Ram Dembani, 18, and Raj Sirwani, 18. The police said the main accused, Anil, stays in Maharal, while the other accused stay in Ulhasnagar. Most of the accused are unemployed and were involved in thefts. They used to use that money on drugs and alcohol, the police said.
Raju and Madan were on duty when the accused demanded money for alcohol. Senior inspector Vyankatesh Andhale said, “When Raju refused to give the money, Anil started an argument, and the other accused stoned both to death. Anil then cut of Raju’s private parts with a Rampuri knife and took it with him.” The police said the incident came to light at 6am, when a passerby, Deshmukh, noticed both the bodies at an open ground near a building and informed the police.
Andhale said, “We immediately alerted all staff and deployed teams at various locations, including Titwala railway station.” The police said around 7am, assistant police inspector Avinash Patil, along with constables Anil Rathod and Girase, noticed a minor riding a motorcycle, with blood stains on his pant.
Patil said, “When we tried to stop the motorcycle, Anil, who was riding pillion, fled. We were shocked when we checked the luggage compartment. The victim’s mobile phone was also there.” The police later got the minor to call Anil, claiming the police had left, and requesting him to come to a tea stall. The police nabbed Anil when he came over.
The police have booked all five, who are habitual criminals, for murder. Anil, who hails from Delhi, had killed his father when he was minor and was released on bail, after which he came to Ulhasnagar, where he started working as a sweeper on contract basis with the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation. Raj, along with his brother, work as tourist guides in Mumbai.
