3 held in Nashik for torching motorcycles
NASHIK: The Nashik police have arrested three persons in connection with the case of torching six motorcycles in the Mahalaxmi Nagar area of Ambad on May 11. The three accused are identified as Karan Koduskar, resident of Shantinagar, Kiran Ratan of Amprapali slum Upnagar and Manoj Bhojane, resident of Makhmalabad.
During the interrogation of the three accused they also confessed to have stolen a motorcycle, four mobile phones and committing a house break-in.
Nashik city has witnessed a series of such crimes this year. Police officials said that six motorcycles were torched around 1.30am on May 11.
On hearing the commotion, Valaram Chaudhary, whose vehicle was also torched had rushed to the basement of the building to see the vehicles on fire after which the police and fire brigade was called. The fire and smoke caused damage to the electric wire that was hanging over these vehicles, following which, the residents alerted the power utility to cut power supply of the building, thereby averting a major accident.
The residents tried to douse the fire but the situation got out of control. Nashik has seen similar incidents of torching vehicles in Satpur, Indiranagar and Panchavati areas of the city wherein eight-two wheelers and one car have been torched so far.
