A policeman from Malaysia - who arrived in Kerala for his honeymoon - was held at Cochin airport on Sunday night after CISF personnel found bullets in his baggage during checking.

Kochi: A policeman from Malaysia - who arrived in Kerala for his honeymoon - was held at Cochin airport on Sunday night after CISF personnel found bullets in his baggage during checking. The man who was arrested at the airport was identified as Mukundan (31). They later handed him over to Nedumbassery police and a case was registered. The police said that the foreigner had a licence to use gun in Malaysia and he was not aware of the norms in India.
The foreigner had come to Kerala on May 23 with his wife. While the man was detained, his wife was allowed to fly back to Malaysia. He was produced before a court on Monday and remanded in judicial custody.
Man held for fraud: Kalady police arrested a man from North Mararikulam who had cheated multiple victims using a fake matrimonial bureau which he claimed was based out of Angamaly. Kalady police arrested Shyju Rajan (28) of Alappuzha on Monday after they found that he had cheated dozens of victims by claiming to find potential soulmates. The police said the accused placed matrimonial ads in papers on behalf of a fake company 'Digital Matrimony' in Angamaly of which he was the owner.
When contacted by clients, the accused sought the help of a field agent who visited the homes of clients with photos of brides. The agent would then collect a registration fee of Rs 1,500 and an additional amount of Rs 1,000 as travel allowance, following which he would collect details of the groom and give them two fake phone numbers.
Woman drowns: A 50-year-old woman was drowned after she fell into a small canal during a bout of epilepsy on Monday afternoon. Asma Hassan (50), a native of Udayathuvathil in Panangad, had taken her goats to a nearby canal to fetch water when the incident took place around 12.30pm. Police said the victim had a history of epilepsy and was known to have sudden bouts of the disease at any time without warning. Though she was taken to a private hospital, her life could not be saved.
