Panic in school as fire breaks out

A fire broke out in the auditorium of KDB Public School in Kavi Nagar on Monday morning where nearly 200 schoolchildren had gathered for a summer camp.

Ghaziabad: A fire broke out in the auditorium of KDB Public School in Kavi Nagar on Monday morning where nearly 200 schoolchildren had gathered for a summer camp. The fire started in the store room and soon filled the whole auditorium with smoke, forcing the school authorities to evacuate the auditorium. No one was injured in the fire which triggerred panic among the children.
Nivedita Rana, principal, said, "About 200 students from Class III to IX had gathered at the school's auditorium for the summer camp when smoke emanating from the store room, where musical instruments are stored, was noticed.

"We quickly evacuated the auditorium and our staff members rushed with the fire extinguisher to douse the flames and, in the meantime, we also informed the fire station. Shortly, a fire tender reached the spot and the blaze was brought under control in half an hour " Rana said.
Ram Kishore Yadav, fire station officer, Kotwali, said, "We got a call around 11.10am informing us of the fire in the school and we rushed one fire tender. By the time we reached the school, the staff members had almost extinguished the fire," Yadav said, adding that a short circuit was the cause of the fire.
