Politburo okays cabinet-rank post for Achuthanandan

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM politburo that met in Delhi on Monday directed the state secretariat of the party to find an appropriate post for veteran leader V S Achuthanandan that is on par with the rank of a cabinet minister.
The PB, which discussed several proposals including chairman of the LDF and advisor to the government, left the decision to the state leadership as creating new posts requires amendment of rules.
After the two-day meeting of the politburo, general secretary Sitaram Yechury told reporters in Delhi that the Kerala government will decide on the position to be offered to VS and a decision will be taken soon.
Later, while speaking to reporters here after getting back from Delhi, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Yechury will announce the position for VS. Terming the PB discussions constructive, Vijayan said the government would announce the decision (on VS) once it was taken.
VS said he has not been officially informed yet about such a decision.
