Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has said the state government is considering setting up a committee to resolve the pending issues related to the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) Act, 1976, once and for all.
Talking to realtors and developers at the Loksatta Real Estate Conclave in Pune on Sunday, he said this would stop the functioning of the offices of the ULC.
Though the Act was repealed in 2007 by the state government, there remains considerable confusion about it. In Mumbai and Pune, this matter assumes significance as ULC clearance is necessary for sanctioning of projects. “We know what kind of dukaan (shops) are running in such offices. It is necessary to stop such activities,” Fadnavis said.
The state government is thinking of appointing a committee headed by retired chief justice of the Bombay High Court to solve the pending matters.
