ISLAMABAD: Xen Highways and Pak PWD Bagh Azad Kashmir had allegedly allotted roads and buildings construction contracts worth of Rs 3.950 billion against rules and regulations to blue-eyed companies without getting technical approval from the concerned officials. According to the reports, the alleged contracts of Shujaabad Rawalakot Road construction, Hajjal to Jaag Laritop Panni Scheme and 106 buildings construction, restorations have been awarded to the blue-eyed companies. The project engineer of Bagh had illegally approved the grant of Rs 350 million and this was issued under Bagh City Development project. It was further revealed in report that heavy damage worth of Rs 15 million had also paid to national exchequer through allegedly changing in Muzaffarabad’s bridge construction project. The Kashmir Highway Authority had allegedly done mega corruption worth of Rs 500 million in Kohala Dhirkot Road construction contract. The first PC-1 of this project was Rs 93 million and second one was Rs 478 million. However, contract of this project had been awarded to I Pack Engineering Company in Rs 993 million and the second party in this project was FWO. High-level investigation had been ordered for this mega corruption scandal but till today no one was declared responsible for this corruption. The connector land acquisition Muzaffarabad had allegedly involved in financial embezzlement worth of Rs 6 million in the purchasing of Muzaffarabad City Development project land. The ERRA officials have deposited the amount of approximately Rs 6 million in the bank account entitled Niaz Ahmed donated by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait instead of utilising in its projects. The report said that the ERRA officials did not collect the fines worth of Rs 894 million from various personal contractors imposed under liquidated loss and give the contractors free hand while increasing the cost of their projects.
