All clear: Justice Adi back in Lokayukta office
Upalokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi was back in office on Monday after being cleared of charges of overstepping his jurisdiction by a High Court-appointed committee.

Justice Adi had played a crucial role in unearthing the corruption scandal within the anti-corruption watchdog -- Lokayukta. He had directed the then SP Sonia Narang to probe into the Rs 1 crore bribe-demand complaints in July 2015. He had subsequently faced a removal motion.

Resuming office after the turmoil, he said the institution, Lokayukta, comes before individual, and that he would continue to ensure justice is given to every person who seeks Lokayukta’s help.

He did not want to go into the details of the removal motion or the enquiry findings, but pointed out the stand he had always maintained: that the charges against him were false. “A section of officers and advocates had supported this view, and now they had been proved right,” he said.

At this time, when the institution was at its lowest, he said, it was up to its staffers to help gain back the confidence people had lost in it.

He said an action plan would be drawn after the meeting on Tuesday and he would continue his district tour. He also maintained that grievances would be redressed on
priority.
