A case of alleged illegal kidney removal was lodged at S K Puri police station on Sunday night by one Mohammad Rafeeq against Dr P K Jha and K B Surgical Hospital.

Patna: A case of alleged illegal kidney removal was lodged at S K Puri police station on Sunday night by one Mohammad Rafeeq against Dr P K Jha and K B Surgical Hospital. Rafeeq stated in his FIR that he was admitted to K B Surgical Hospital located in West Boring Canal Road area for the removal of stone in kidney on May 20. The next day, he was operated upon by Dr P K Jha.
But after operation, his condition deteriorated. Then he went to Paras-HMRI Hospital, where doctors informed him that one of his kidneys was removed. Shocked Rafeeq then lodged an FIR.
S K Puri police station SHO SK Verma said the case was lodged under different sections of IPC and Transplantation of Human Organs Act against the accused.
He added, “We went to interrogate the accused doctor, but he is not in town.” Police are also recording the statements of doctors of Paras-HMRI Hospital to find out on what basis they have claimed that the kidney of the victim was removed.
The officials of K B Surgical Hospital could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
