Criminals planning to loot businessman arrested
Ranchi: Three criminals who had gathered near a restaurant under Sukhdeo Nagar police station with two pistols and some live bullets with plans to loot money from a businessman were arrested in a police raid conducted on Sunday night. In a press conference on Monday, city SP Kishore Kaushal said one of the arrested men was an employee of the businessman who was the target of the criminals.
“The businessman runs an enterprise in the city and his everyday money collection at the end of the business day is around Rs 10 lakh.
The businessman collects the money from the shop everyday and goes home at night. An aide of the businessman deposits the money in the bank the next day. Armed with this inside information Surendra Oraon, who has been working at the private enterprise for the last two months, planned with his friends to loot him,” SP Kishore said.
The identity of the businessman has not been disclosed for the purpose of his safety. “Oraon contacted four of his friends and shared the inside information with them. Together they planned to loot the businessman for easy money,” SP said.
The information was somehow leaked to the police before they could execute the plan. The police conducted a raid and arrested them. “At the site there were five criminals. Two of them managed to escape,” a police officer said.
During interrogation, the businessman disclosed that he had hired Oraon without properly verifying his credentials. “Oraon has accepted that he had shared the inside information with some of his friends but claimed that the loot plan was hatched by his friends and not by him,” a police officer said.
SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi said that the incident has exposed that businessmen put themselves to risk by not verifying the credentials of the employees before hiring them.
The three arrested men are Ritesh Raj Verma and Raj Rupendra Singh, both locals of the city besides Oroan who also temporarily stayed in the city.
