25 Belagavi pilgrims who went to Uttarakhand are safe
Belagavi: About 25 pilgrims who went to Uttarakhand to visit Kedarnath, Badrinath, Hrishikesh and Haridwar from Mudalagi in Gokak taluk of the district on May 10 are all safe and heading towards Delhi.
Speaking to the TOI, Basavaraj Viraktamath, relative of one of the pilgrim said the friends and family members became scared after hearing heavy rain in Uttarakhand leading submerging of roads and bridges.
“We took long breath after pilgrims called over phone and confirmed they are safe,” Basavaraj said.
About 25 people from Mudalagi and 20 from Mahalingapur have gone to pilgrimage by Andhra Pradesh-based tourist company. All were in Haridwar finishing the visits of Kedarnath, Badrinath and Hrishikesh on Sunday evening. Heavy downpour started after few hours the tourist bus passed risky area, Basavaraj said.
