A law to authorise expenditure for the ongoing fiscal in Uttarakhand has been approved by President Pranab Mukherjee.

It allows withdrawal of about Rs 13,642.43 crore towards defraying the several charges which will come in respect to various services in the hill state.

The Uttarakhand Appropriation (Vote on Account) Act, 2016 got President assent on Saturday, according to an official notification.

The legislation repealed an ordinance promulgated by the President in March-end to meet expenditure in Uttarakhand. The ordinance was necessitated as the state was then under the Centre’s rule.

The President’s rule in Uttarakhand was lifted earlier this month following a long political and legal battle.

“Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the provisions of this Act,” it said.
