Memorial Day brings a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon in the Denver metro area and along the Front Range.

The high temperature is expected to be 78 degrees, with light winds in the morning and increasing wind in the afternoon out of the west. Wind gusts of up to 20 mph are possible.

The chance for precipitation is 30 percent in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Temperatures are expected to drop by about 12 degrees to a high of 66 on Tuesday.

There is a slight chance for rain Tuesday morning. The likelihood of rain and thunderstorms increases to 40 percent in the afternoon.

Temperatures will gradually increase Wednesday through Friday, with a high of 70 expected on Wednesday, 78 on Thursday and 83 on Friday, according to the NWS.

There is a slight chance for rain on Wednesday afternoon. It will be cloudy Thursday and Friday.

The Denver area is expected to be mostly sunny on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the lower 80s.
