The Game of Thrones Season Finale Will be the Longest Episode to Date

It's a mixed bag of news for Game of Thrones fans today, as although the impending end of series 6 is looming and crying into Kit Harrington's glorious hair seems like the only way to get over it, HBO have announced that the season finale will be the longest episode yet.

So whack out your snacks and shotgun the best seat on the sofa: the ten episode series is about to come to a head on June 19th with an almighty 69 minute episode to sink your teeth into. Sounds good, huh?

The finale will be called 'The Winds of Winter', with may-or-may-not-be a nod to the aftermath of the epic battle for Winterfell between the armies of Ramsay Bolton and Jon Snow.

Which leads us to the penultimate episode (yes yes we know that should've come first), 'The Battle of the Bastards' - which presumably refers to the epic Jon Snow vs. Ramsay Bolton face-off that's been simmering all season.

HOW EXCITING. The penultimate episode will be 60 minutes long, and if you need us between now and then? We'll be perfecting our Khaleesi braids and preparing the microwave popcorn.
