Pune crime branch arrests a person with firearms
PUNE: The Pune crime branch recently held a 34-year-old suspect and recovered two country made firearms worth Rs 55,000 from his possession.
The police have identified the suspect as Samil Nasir Shah, a resident of Rabiyanagar in Rahata taluka of Ahmednagar district. The anti-dacoity cell of the crime branch led by senior inspector Ganpat Pingle has made the arrest.
Pingle said that police constable Asif Patel has received a tip-off that one person from Ahmednagar would be coming near Alankar theatre near Pune railway station.
He was possessing a country made pistol and revolver with him. “The informer also told Patel that the suspect was wearing white colour pant and shirt,” Pingle said.
Pingle said that the police laid a trap and nabbed Shah near the Alankar theatre. “When we frisked him, we found a country made revolver, a pistol and four cartridges with him,” Pingle said.
Pingle said that a case under Indian Arms Act has been registered against Shah with the Bund Garden police station. The investigating team comprised assistant inspector Laxman Dhengale, police constables Devidas Bhandari, Najir Patel, Pradip Shitole, Santosh Pagar, Sharad Kanase, Dattatreya Katam, Rahul Ghadge, Ashok Atole, Vinayak Pawar, Pramod Gaikwad Kiran Landge and Vinod Salunke.
