The armed robbery took place on Tuesday, May 17 shortly before closing time at 18:30.

“Six men came into the business they all had balaclavas and gloves on, they went straight for one of the managers,” said Mr Vishulu Nair.

Three of the robbers made their way to the cash hall along with the manager who was then forced to open the safe. The other three robbers told the cashiers to open their tills and removed the contents thereof.

“They gave one of the managers a klap after he hesitated to open the safe, they also harassed the cashiers but no one was injured,” he said.

Once the safe had opened the robbers took an undisclosed amount of money from the safe. They also looted R10 000 worth of cigarettes then fled the shop.
