Fanta defeated Tackrack 7-2 in the Coca Cola-sponsored May Polo Championships, the first event in the Kenya Polo Association calendar at Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil yesterday.

The two-day event saw Fanta score three straight penalties in the first two chukkas through captain Philips Salle, whose 1.5 handicap propelled his team to victory to signal a good start of  the season.

The other goals came in through the last two chukkas from Omwakwe Arunga and Phillip Arunga, while Mike Du Toit scored a brace for the Tackrack.

Salle told Feverpitch in a post-match interview that their victory was achieved after rigorous training. The pitch also favoured their game.

"The tournament was good and the grounds helped us achieve victory, even though we played as a team from the beginning. Our horses were in good shape as we attacked and put the ball forward most of the time," he said.

On their way to the final, Fanta topped Pool A with maximum six points after they defeated Dasani 3.5 to 3 and won 4-2 against Stoney.
