The Mahinder Singh Singhal Educational and Research Society would honor as many as 15 prominent regular teachers with Malti Gyan Peeth Award-2014 for their outstanding contribution in promoting the girl education in the state. The teachers of government High and Senior Secondary Schools teaching Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English and Social Sciences would be considered for the award.Disclosing this here today, Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka, Education Minister Punjab said that the awardees would be given Rs. 1 lakh cash, appreciation letter and a 'Robe of Honour'. He also said that out of 75 recommended teachers, 15 teachers would be selected by the properly constituted jury of the Society. DPI Senior Secondary or his nominee would be the member of the jury, he added. Maluka also said that this initiative was mainly taken to promote the quality teaching in the schools besides encouraging the hundred percent attendance of girl students in the government schools. He however made it clear that the teachers already awarded with the National or State Awards would not be considered for this award. Each school can recommend only one teacher of one subject for the consideration of the award, said Maluka.
