Yep. The crowd went crazy.

Boston Calling’s

third and final day may have been chilly, but a high-energy show by Janelle Monae kept the City Hall Plaza dance floor hot.

Monae ran through a medley of her hits like “Tightrope” and “Cold War,” while mixing in covers like “I Feel Good” by James Brown. But it was her final song, another cover, that really set the tone for the night, as Monae performed Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.”

Monae declared that Prince was her “mentor and idol.” She performed the song bathed in purple light, with a backing band featuring a guitarist who did his best Prince impression.

Rock group Haim got in on the act as well, performing Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” in the early part of their set. Along with a crowd-rocking set from Disclosure, it was a fitting end to the final Boston Calling to take place at City Hall Plaza.
