NAAC team asks BU to ensure placement

Berhampur: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has asked the Berhampur University to ensure placement for its passouts.
The 10-member NAAC panel, which visited the university to assess its infrastructure facilities in April, has also asked the varsity to introduce more elective subjects for students in the choice-based credit system (CBCS).
The university authorities on Saturday unveiled the report of the NAAC team at a meeting held here. Among other suggestions, the panel sought the automation of its library, inviting overseas students and filling up of vacant posts.
"A meeting will be held soon to review the suggestions of the NAAC panel. We will try to implement the suggestions to maintain the standard of the university," said vice-chancellor Deep Kumar Behera.
"The university campus was almost devastated in the cyclone Phailin, which hit the town in October 2013. However we managed to re-build it with active support of the government. We also brought about changes in the academic structure and the NAAC panel appreciated it," Behera added. The university celebrated its golden jubilee this year. The university had introduced CBCS, smart classroom, Wi-Fi enabled campus and signed a memorandum of understanding with five foreign universities, besides setting up South Odisha Culture Study Centre..
