Balasore man, missing for 30 years, claims he's in Pak jail

Gauranga Padhee, a man from Jadida village under Soro block of Balasore district, is reportedly incarcerated in a Pakistan jail, a letter, purportedly sent by him to his family on Saturday said.

Balasore: Gauranga Padhee, a man from Jadida village under Soro block of Balasore district, is reportedly incarcerated in a Pakistan jail, a letter, purportedly sent by him to his family on Saturday said. His relatives do not believe he is still alive.
In 1975, Gauranga had migrated as a labourer to Himanchal Pradesh. "He did not return to his village since then.
And there has been no communication between him and his family for more than 30 years," said his wife Pankajini Padhee.
In his letter he asked his family to send him an identity proof, which will help him get rescued. "He did not mention how he crossed the line of control. I am so happy to know that he is alive. I requested the district magistrate, through our local MLA, for his rescue," she added.
"He left me, our son and daughter, along with my father-in-law and mother-in-law to find a job outside the state. He used to come regularly during from time to time. Since 1985, he stopped all communication with us. Presuming him dead, I live like a widow," Pankajini, who lost her son and in-laws in these years, said.
Pankajini lives at her daughter's house at Anantapur of Soro block.
Parsuram Dhada, MLA, Soro, said he has spoken to the collector regarding this matter. "I have also written to the chief minister and external affairs ministry for proper investigation about this letter," he said.
