KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Executive Board is going to suggest government to ensure the arrest of absconder Manzoor Ahmed Qadir Alias Kaka, former director general of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) through Interpol. The NAB has already completed investigation against Kaka in mega corruption worth of Rs 50 billion in his account, Daily Times has learnt. According to NAB director general, the NAB had initiated investigation in May 2015 against him and the authority after the investigation process would register first investigation report (FIR) against the absconder. He said the NAB after collecting evidences through several sources came to know that Kaka transferred almost Rs 900 billion in different countries during his tenure in the office. The NAB found that the accused has transferred money from Pakistan to other countries through Aftab Pathan, his close ally, who was also known as his right hand, he added. The NAB officials told Daily Times that Kaka has more than $ 3 billion liquid and material assets in foreign countries. The officials said Kaka also owns assets in different cities of Pakistan including Karachi, Islamabad, Murree and Lahore. Moreover, he has also assets in United Arab Emirates (UAE), South Africa, United States of America (USA) and Canada and believed he is currently living in Canada as a national, officials added. They further said that Gul Ahmed, brother of Kaka, is the manager to former president Asif Ali Zardari and looks after Zaradri’s assets and other matters adding that Kaka used to influence other government departments like Sindh Board of Revenue (SBR) and Sindh Fisheries Department. It is revealed that he used Aftab Pathan as the middleman for the transfer of money collected from different departments to Dubai (UAE). Aftab is currently residing in London. Kaka began his political career as member of Peoples Student Federation (PSF) and was trained by Al-Zulfiqar Organisation, a student wing of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Kaka trained in Kabul, Afghanistan. Former premier Benazir Bhutto in 1989 appointed him in KBCA in grade-17 and he was later promoted to grade-21. He became director general of Sindh Building Control Authority and got under control the legislation of the department besides using his powers unlawfully. The Sindh High Court (SHC) declared SBCA amended laws void besides turned down changes made in the ‘Master Plan Department Karachi. He wanted to take control of all the civic development bodies including Lyari, Malir and the defunct Karachi Development Authority (KDA).
