The Mohinder Singh Syngle Education and Research Society, in cooperation with the Punjab Government, gave the Malti Gyan Peeth Puraskar- 2016 to 15 teachers of the state.
Two of these teachers hailed from the district. Manisha Thakur, a Mathematics lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School, Town Hall, and Deepak Sharma, a lecturer of English at Government Senior Secondary School, Taragarh were felicitated with this award. President Pranab Mukherjee handed over the prizes to the teachers at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan today.
The jury, consisting of eminent bureaucrats, educationists, management professionals and senior officers of the Punjab Education Department, had selected the nominees for the award after the final selection process consisting of two written tests and a personal interview. The prize consisted Rs 1 lakh in cash, a robe of honour, a certificate of excellence and a medal. — TNS
