It wasn't pretty, but it was a case of getting the job done for Clare as they booked a place in the Munster SFC semi-final against Kerry.

A summation then of the Banner's win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.

It took a while for the winners to get going against opposition who had enough chances to build up a sizeable lead inside the first ten minutes. Colm Collins side were also guilty of some wayward shooting but once they did find the range they had the wherwithal to keep their opponents at bay.

Collins, however, was far from satisfied when he spoke to RTÉ Sport after the game.

"The game wasn't good and I don't think we played very well," was his blunt assessment.

"A lot of the things we were working hard on we didn't do. Championship is championship and credit to Limerick they came here with a really good gameplan.

"They set up well in defence, they were patient and they frustrated us. We felt we could have been a bit more patient but we're going to Killarney in two weeks' time and that's all that matters."

The Clare boss and his management will have much to work on ahead of the Fitzgerald Stadium clash and realise that that their troops will have to be much more clinical in front of the posts.

Collins continued: "We were extremely flat early and that was very worrying. If Limerick has their shooting boots they could have been six points up in that opening period.

"We would be hard on ourselves in that we carved them open on a couple of occasions but we didn't make it count

"When you play against an organised defence like we did today and carve them open, you have got to put the ball away and we didn't. That's why we were left with a one-score game at the very end."
