Terming the two years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government as extraordinary and unprecedented, Leader of the Opposition PK Dhumal today said the Modi government had done what the Congress government could not do in the past 60 years.

He said the past two years had been a milestone in the development of Himachal. Dharamsala would become a Smart City, AIIMS is coming up in Bilaspur, IIM has come up in Sirmaur, Rs 6,000 crore have been sanctioned for three medical colleges in Sirmaur, Chamba and Hamirpur, drug pharma hub has been announced, Rs 353 crore have been for railway development, besides 23 national highways and two industrial corridors to come up at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore had been sanctioned for the state.

Claiming that the Union government had given Rs 1,958.54 crore subsidy to the state under the National Food Security Act and Rs 182.27 crore subsidy for sugar in the past two years, Dhumal said about Rs 135 crore were given under the Swachh Bharat Mission and 1,20,897 toilets had been constructed in the past two years.

He said crores of rupees had been given to the state under different schemes but it was unfortunate that even after receiving funds, the state government had failed to utilised them and added that if the funds were spent on development works, it could change the whole scenario in the state.
