KUALA LUMPUR: The Bumiputera Education Tour (JPB) 2016 programme can become the best platform to help 40,000 school leavers who failed to pursue their studies at a higher level, to enrol in institutions which offer Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes this July.

JPB Main Committe chairman Prof Tan Sri Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar said until now, the programme which began in March had offered places at higher education institutions to 32,000 school leavers nationwide.

“There are a lot of places of study in community colleges as well as TVET institutions and we will try to fill up the vacancies,” he told reporters at the Wangsa Maju Umno division-level JPB 2016 here yesterday.

He said the programme, which is the brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had been carried out in 57 locations and identified nearly 120,000 school leavers, who could continue their studies in technical fields. — Bernama
