The Samajwadi Party will emerge as an alternative to the Congress and the BJP in 2017 Assembly elections. The party will contest the maximum number of seats in all 13 districts.

This was stated here yesterday by Abha Barthwal, chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand Reorganisation Coordination Consultation Committee.

The wife of the late Vinod Barthwal, Samajwadi Party Uttarakhand ex-president, Abha Barthwal urged party leaders and activists to start preparing for the Assembly elections by reaching out to voters.

Citing the development-oriented governance in Uttar Pradesh led by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Abha said party activists should apprise people of the hill state about this and assure them that same governance would be replicated in Uttarakhand too, if the Samajwadi Party was voted to power.

“Fifteen-year rule in Uttarakhand by the BJP and the Congress has been marred by corruption, scandals and sting operations instead of development. From Nityanand Swami, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Vijay Bahuguna to now Harish Rawat, no Chief Minister could usher in development,” said Abha.

“Whereas Akhilesh Yadav has put UP on the path of development and prosperity,” she added.

District president Narendra Gujjar, welcoming Abha Barthwal, said the late Vinod Barthwal was the face of the Samajwadi Party in Uttarakhand and was associated closely with former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna and Mulayam Singh Yadav.
