Pradeep Tamta, Congress nominee for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Uttarakhand, today said if he made it to the Upper House, he would press for a separate development cell for the Himalayan states at the Centre.
Tamta, while thanking the Congress high command for his nomination, said if someone had reservations on his candidature, still there was time to sort it out.
Talking to The Tribune on the phone from Haldwani, Tamta said he was thankful to Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for his nomination. “If the PDF, who supports the Congress government in the state, has any objection on my nomination, the matter can be settled before the last date of nomination,” he said.
Tamta said if he reached the Rajya Sabha, he would press for a separate development cell for the Himalayan states at the Centre for a speedy development.
