Patna: Setting all speculations at rest, BJP central parliamentary board on Sunday cleared the name of former state party chief Gopal Narayan Singh (73) for the Rajya Sabha seat and of the party's state secretary Arjun Sahani for one of the two Bihar legislative council seats.
The party's state vice-president Sanjay Mayukh said both Singh and Sahani would file their nomination papers on Tuesday.
The party candidate for the second council seat would be announced soon. Of the seven council seats falling vacant, two were held by the state BJP senior leaders Harendra Pratap and Kiran Ghai.
Singh was the party's MLA in 1977, and had unsuccessfully contested the Nabinagar seat last year. He served the party as its state chief during 2004-05.
Singh also established Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Rohtas (Sasaram) district in 2006. He was also associated with the Dharma Jagaran Sansad activities conducted by the party's Gorakhpur MP Swami Adityanath in Bihar last year on the eve of the assembly elections.
