Xbox One & Windows 10 has some solid integration from gaming perspective, specially the streaming part which allows you to play games on Windows 10 PC, for when your TV is pre-occupied. This feature seems to be making its way to Windows 10 Mobile as well. This could get announced at upcoming E3.
I got a screenshot in a message from a friend, and I clicked on the games name on accident. It took me to a somewhat store-page like thing, but I noticed it said “play from console” instead of the usual “play on console” link. So I tapped it, and tapped the screen again, to get the streaming bar at the top of the page.. After about 5 seconds of sitting at this screen, I got this message.. That’s cool, wasn’t expecting anything, but I might want to try connecting the app to my Xbox. Once that was done, I repeated the same process and got this message instead.. Now streaming is enabled on my Xbox, so I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume we’re getting streaming to mobile soon, but it’s not enabled yet.
Here is how to try it out:
- Open Xbox One App on your Phone.
- Open any game, lets say Forza Motorsport 6
- Right in the info section, where you get to see the Featured Image, you will have option which says “Play from Console”
- Tap on it, and it will say we could not stream message.
The streaming part doesn’t work right now, but expect this to go live with the Anniversary Update, specially when Xbox One gets a big one. The Play from Console option does seem though. That said, Sony has already enabled this features for its Xperia Phones and Tablets to stream games from PS4 to Mobile, and play with the controller. Xbox one will also work on similar lines.
